Top Treadmill Feature Considerations by Nick Gellar

Treadmills are the most popular forms of exercise equipment when measured in sales. & those statistics are justified in that many people know the simplest; most natural way to get a workout is by running. Given that many of us today do not live in environments ideal for running we will buy treadmills.

Those looking into buying a treadmill might notice that there is an abundance of models to choose from. Starting at approximately $700 up to almost $3500 it not a small purchase by any means. That is why you will do research before buying. But after you've determined what your demands are there are a few things to look at when you start shopping.

The most important part of the treadmill is the motor. This should be the primary focus of your research. It needs to be durable enough to meet your demands especially if you intend on using the treadmill heavily. A treadmill that will be used on a regular basis will need a 2. 5 CHP motor at a minimum.

The deck of the treadmill is the area directly below the belt. It is where you will be hitting with your feet when the treadmill is in use. Ideally it would have rubber or polymer cushions underneath as this will help with shock absorption.

These days almost every treadmill has an incline feature so you can pretend to be running uphill while actually you're just running in place at an incline. It's great for forcing yourself into a more strenuous workout. The ranges vary more or less steep but if you're looking for intense workouts make sure you have a treadmill that supports that feature.

Some people find the built in heart rate monitors handy. This usually comes with most treadmills it helps to make sure you don't start slacking when the going gets tough although we can't be too sure of its accuracy. If you have a portable heart monitor then it really doesn't make a difference. Besides the only way it reads your pulse is when you place both hands on the rail which is an unnatural way to run.

Some have calorie calculators so you can see the number of calories you're burning some people find it encouraging to see their calories burned. Although I've heard some trainer who are versed in these things claim the calorie burned numbers are grossly optimistic to keep the consumers happy.

The number one thing to look for in a treadmill is the warranty. Since not all treadmills are built equal at least the warranty can protect you from any nasty surprises. Expect 10 years on the motor 3 years for replacement parts on standard machines. Buy an extension if you think you need it.
